I am not tempted to become party president, prime minister: Koirala

. KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has said he was in favour of party unity and cautioned against splitting the party.

Issuing a video message today on the occasion of inauguration of the special general convention of the Nepali Congress, he clarified that he was not involved in any personal interest at the party level.TAG_OPEN_div_11

} “I do not want to move forward with anger and impatience in the transformation campaign of the Congress, I want to make it clear here, I have no personal ambition, I have never been attracted by the greed of becoming a minister and general secretary, such opportunities have come but I have not shown interest, the prospect of becoming president and prime minister does not entice me,” he said.

He said that he was raising a peaceful voice in favor of the overall unity of the NC by being inspired by his family’s philosophy of life.TAG_OPEN_div_7 Leader Koirala said he had put his vote in writing in the central working committee of the party when the party’s special general convention campaign was underway. Stating that the general convention delegates are the party’s heritage, he said they have come to Kathmandu with the pious objective of establishing the effectiveness of the procedure and the relevance of the policy.
