Mustang. All five local levels in Mustang district have been obstructed since Saturday evening.

The Nilgiri Consumers Cooperative, a power distribution company based in Gharpajhong-93 of Mustang, said the service has been disrupted after the wind damaged the central electricity transmission line.

Chief of Electricity Distribution Company, Sun Prasad Thakali, informed that the power supply has been disrupted for the past 48 hours after the storm damaged the pole of the central electricity transmission line at Thasang rural municipality-4. He said the service was halted initially for the repair of the 33 KV substation at Thasang-92 but the power was halted after a storm occurred Sunday night damaged electric poles.

Office Chief Thakali said that technical teams from the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) have been mobilized to repair the damaged poles. Although NEA has a 33 KV substation at Thasang-92, there is problem in power supply due to lack of substation in the upper area.

Although the 13-MW Thapakhola Hydropower Project has been generating electricity at Thasang-91-Tukuche, Mustang will be plunged into darkness if there is a technical problem in the central transmission line in absence of a substation, said Thakali.

NEA has been distributing the electricity generated by Thapa Khola Hydro. Locals have complained that electricity problems have been surfaced in Mustang time and again due to lack of access to NEA in the upper part of the district.

Chief of ACAP Lomanthang, Umesh Poudel, said that the disruption of power supply in the winter has affected the regular work of the government offices as well as in their daily activities including watching television and charging mobile phones.
