Health and accident insurance cover of Rs 7 lakh for SEJON members

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Society of Economic Journalists (SEJON) has provided health and accident insurance to its members. SEJON has provided health insurance worth Rs 1 lakh to each member and a total of Rs 7 lakh as group accident insurance coverage.

Mr. Anju Shrestha, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Himalayan Everest Insurance, handed over the health insurance policy to Mr. Bhagwat Bhattarai, Chairman of SEJON.

Speaking on the occasion, CEO of Sagarmatha Insurance, Anju Shrestha said, “We are pleased to offer insurance service to the members of SEJON through her organization. Stating that it was necessary to bring all Nepalis under the ambit of insurance, she said that the importance of insurance has not been adequately explained to the citizens.

“The loss has not been minimized due to a lack of proper understanding of the benefits of insurance,” she said, adding, “As an umbrella organization of journalists covering the financial sector, SEJON can play an important role in educating the public about the importance and benefits of insurance.” ”

According to Bhattarai, SEJON has provided health insurance worth Rs 15.96 crore through Himalayan Everest Insurance Company, prioritizing the health and security of its members.

Health Insurance Facility

Under the health insurance scheme, the members of SEJON will get the insurance facility as soon as they are admitted to the hospital. The insurance covers minor surgery up to Rs 15,000, emergency surgery up to Rs 30,000 and major surgery up to Rs 40,000.

In addition, the bed charge, doctor fees and medical treatment expenses incurred after admission to the hospital will also be included in the insurance coverage, said Bhattarai.

Group Accident Insurance

Under the Group Accident Insurance, SEJON members will be able to get a maximum coverage of up to Rs 7 lakh in case of physical damage due to the accident. According to SEJON, if the hospital has to be admitted due to an accident, the treatment allowance will be up to Rs 7 lakh.

According to Bhattarai, the insurance policy has already come into effect and all the members of the organization will be able to take benefit from it for the next one year. Speaking at the program, Bhattarai said, “We have been working to enhance the professional capacity of all our members, which will always be there. Keeping in mind the health sensitivities of the members, this time we have insured all the members from the fund of the organization. ”

Stating that it was the responsibility of the organization to work for the welfare of its members, he expressed commitment to continue such programmes in the coming days as well.
