Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection (DoM), which has been regularly monitoring and inspecting the market, has imposed cash fines on two firms.
The department has slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on BS Dhawalagiri Traders and Rs 15,000 on Sindhu Materials Pvt Ltd for negligence in course of monitoring.
The Department said the two firms were booked after they were found violating various clauses of the Consumer Protection Act-2075 BS. While the department has monitored a total of 14 firms, it has issued corrective directives to 12 others.
The department has been monitoring firms selling construction materials in recent days. The Department has been carrying out regular market monitoring with the participation of local administration, consumer rights activists and other stakeholders and has been taking legal action and imposing cash fines to those found unfair.
