Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that he was flexible to maintain party unity.

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, General Secretary Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma held a meeting today to sort out the disputes arising out of the ongoing special general convention.

During the meeting held at Deuba’s residence in Maharajgunj this morning, NC Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat said that he had been working hard to save party unity and was ready to give up his efforts today as well.

He also urged general secretaries Thapa and Sharma to be ready to save the party unity. Regarding the demand to give up the issue of submitting his official signature for the election on behalf of the party, Dr Mahat said that he was ready to give up his demand.

Deuba’s signature was sent to the Election Commission after taking a decision from the previous central working committee meeting of the party. Accordingly, the party has already distributed tickets under the proportional representation system in the National Assembly election scheduled for January 24 and the House of Representatives to be held on March 4. Now, only direct ticket distribution is left.

He also discussed other issues including the special general convention and urged them to settle these issues through the central working committee. Spokesperson Dr Mahat said that General Secretary duo Thapa and Sharma left the meeting to discuss the issues discussed with party President Deuba with the friends involved in the special general convention.

The special general convention is underway at Bhrikutimandap in the capital from Sunday.
