Jhapa. Two persons died and 11 others were injured in a road accident that took place this morning at Kankai municipality-3, Naya Basti along the East-West Highway.

Sushma Rajbanshi, 40, of Bhadrapur municipality-8 died when a goods truck (Me 1 Cha 4515) en route to Maidhar from Birtamode collided with a bus (Na 5 Kha 2149) coming from Maidhar to Birtamode, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Khagendra Bahadur Khadka.

The injured are undergoing treatment at Birtacity and B&C hospitals. Some of the injured are said to be in critical condition. Police have arrested the truck driver Zakir Hussein, 39, of Birtamod Municipality-6 who fled the scene after the accident.
