Kathmandu. Kathmandu, March 4: The election code of conduct, 2082 has come into effect from midnight today in view of the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 4.

A meeting of the Election Commission held today took the decision in this regard, said Assistant Spokesperson Kul Bahadur GC. According to him, the EC has formulated and implemented the code of conduct in exercise of the power provided by Clause 22 of the Election Commission Act, 2073 BS as it was necessary to maintain independence, fairness, transparency, frugality and fear-free environment in the election.

The Commission’s office-bearers are scheduled to inform the members of the Council of Ministers and high-ranking government employees about the code of conduct today itself.
