Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has annulled its earlier verdict prohibiting construction of any structures within 20 metres of the river bank. A division bench of Justices Sunil Kumar Pokharel, Bal Krishna Dhakal and Nripa Dhoj Niraula issued the verdict overturning the earlier verdict of the Supreme Court.

Issuing a brief order on the matter, the court said it would take time to prepare the full text of the verdict. In the brief order, it has been said that the decision of the joint bench is not justified to that extent.

Earlier, a joint bench of the Supreme Court had ordered that additional 20 meters area on both sides of the river and rivulet should be left vacant beyond the criteria set by the Council of Ministers. A writ petition was filed at the Supreme Court demanding review of the decision.
