Kathmandu. The Supreme Court (SC) is writ petition filed by the Sher Bahadur Deuba faction against the Election Commission’s decision regarding the legitimacy of the Nepali Congress.

The writ petition was filed by a single bench of Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel.

The Deuba faction had moved the court on Sunday against the EC’s decision to give legitimacy to the Gagan Thapa-led Nepali Congress.

The petitioners have demanded that the special general convention be called against the party statute and a new working committee was elected. The petitioner has demanded a mandamus order to declare the central committee led by Gagan Thapa illegal.
