House of Representatives election: Complaints against candidates can be filed today

Kathmandu. A provision has been made that complaints can be filed today against the candidates who have filed their candidacy for the member of the House of Representatives.

As per the deadline set by the Election Commission, a complaint can be filed against the candidates who have filed their nomination papers as per the election program for the first-past-the-post election system. Following the complaint, the final list would be published by 5:00 pm on January 22 after making necessary decision on the nomination papers and complaints, the EC said.

The EC has made arrangements for withdrawing the names of candidates from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on January 22. On the same day, the final list of candidates will be published from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and election symbols will be given to the candidates from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

KATHMANDU — The registration of nomination papers of candidates for the first-past-the-post election system of the House of Representatives has concluded enthusiastically and peacefully at the offices of the concerned Chief Returning Officer and Returning Officer. According to the EC, 2,925 candidates have filed their candidacies so far.

On the occasion, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari thanked the Election Commission for the successful completion of nomination papers. He also expressed his hope that he would get support from all the political parties and stakeholders in the remaining programmes of the election as well.

According to EC Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut, 2,925 candidates have filed their candidacies. Of them, 336 are female candidates and 2,589 are male. Similarly, 85 persons with disabilities and 138 candidates from backward areas have filed their candidacies.
