Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection (DoM), which has been regularly monitoring and inspecting the market, has inspected 18 firms in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur in a single day.

New Shiva Store Kathmandu-29 has been fined Rs 201,000 after it was found negligent during monitoring. The department said action was taken against the firm as per the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 and Consumer Protection Regulations, 2076.

Himalayan Brewery Pvt Ltd has been directed to present at the department within three days with documents related to its business. The department said that corrective instructions have been issued to 16 other firms.

The monitoring was carried out regularly with the presence of local administration, consumer rights activists and local stakeholders.
