Chitwan. The demand for eggs has increased as the elections to the House of Representatives are approaching. With the increase in demand, the price of eggs has also increased.

Nepal Layers Poultry Farmers’ Association has hiked the price of eggs to be effective from today. According to this, the farm price of one crate (30 eggs) has reached 495.

Earlier, the price of eggs sold at Rs 465 per crate has increased by Rs 30. Similarly, the farm price of medium eggs has been fixed at Rs 475. Previously, the egg was sold for Rs 445.

The price of eggs had reached an all-time high in November. At that time, a big egg was sold at Rs 565 per crate. The medium rate was 550. Association Chair Binod Pokharel said the price of eggs has increased due to the election atmosphere in Nepal and the tight security measures put in place at the border areas.

The gradual improvement in the price of eggs is due to the decrease in the number of chickens, the decrease in egg production, the reopening of closed schools, etc. The cost of production of eggs is Rs 19.12 per egg.

Calculating this, the cost price of the farmer comes to Rs 574.6 per crate. Farmers were disappointed when the price of eggs fell again when the cost of production was nearing the end. Now the farmers are hoping that the price will increase. The association fixes the support price of eggs according to the market situation.
