Kathmandu. A complaint has been lodged at the Election Commission accusing the Guthi Corporation of removing Bhupati Bajra Lama, chief of Bouddha and Melamchi Ghyang Guthi, from his post.

Assistant spokesperson of the EC, Kul Bahadur GC, said that necessary investigation and interrogation process would be started from today as the complaint has been filed against the election code of conduct. The Election Code of Conduct-2082 came into effect from 12:00 midnight on January 18. Clause 3 (h) of the code of conduct states that the code of conduct would be applicable to the offices and employees of the government, semi-government and public institutions.

According to Harish Gole Tamang of his secretariat, the Corporation on January 9 decided to sack the chief of Bouddha and Melamchi Ghyang Guthi, Bhupati Bajra Lama, from his post. The corporation had sought clarification from Chief Lama Bhupati Bajra Lama on January 18, the same day the election code of conduct came into effect.

The EC has so far sought 15 clarifications from various political parties, candidates, public bodies and organisations after inquiring into the complaints lodged against them for violating the election code of conduct, GC said.
