Kathmandu. The interest rate of the loan is decreasing every year. In the last one year, the interest rate on loans has decreased by one and a half percent.
According to the data released by the banks till the second quarter, the average interest rate for the first six months of the current fiscal year is 5.34 percent. In the same period of the last fiscal year, the average interest rate was 6.75 percent.
Rastriya Banijya Bank has the lowest base rate during this period. The base rate of the bank stood at 4.42 percent in the second quarter of the current FY. The base rate of Yes Bank has decreased by 1.22 percent in a year. The bank’s interest rate was 5.64 percent in the last fiscal year.
Similarly, Prime Commercial Bank is the bank with the highest base rate during this period. As of the second quarter of the current FY, the base rate of the bank is 5.72 percent. The bank’s base rate has increased by 1.40 percent in a year. In the second quarter of the last financial year, the bank’s rate was 7.12 percent.
During this period, the base rate of Agricultural Development Bank has decreased the most. The base rate of the bank has come down by 1.58 percent to 5.02 percent in a year. In the second quarter of the last financial year, the base rate of the bank was 6.60 percent.
Everest Bank, Nepal Bank and Standard Chartered Bank are the banks with a base rate below 5 percent.
