Kathmandu. A 171-member main celebration committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Anil Kumar Sinha and Chairman of Pashupati Area Development Trust Board of Directors Anil Kumar Sinha.

The committee formed for the preparation of this year’s Maha Shivaratri festival has also included representatives of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, ward no 8 office and other concerned bodies as members. According to the Pashupati Area Development Trust, the committee will work in preparation for the Mahashivaratri festival.

PADT Executive Director and Spokesperson Subash Chandra Joshi told RSS that works are underway to prepare for the Mahashivaratri festival by forming nine thematic sub-committees under the main organizing committee. A meeting of the security sub-committee under the main organizing committee was held on Friday.

Officials of Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department were also present in the meeting chaired by Kathmandu’s Chief District Officer Ishwor Raj Poudel. According to him, the meeting also discussed regarding the arrangement of security during the Mahashivaratri festival.
