Kathmandu. The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an interim order not to use the English language on the embossed number plates of vehicles.
A division bench of Justices Mahesh Sharma Poudel and Kumar Regmi issued the order against the use of English language in the embossed number plates.
A writ petition was filed at the Supreme Court on March 5, 2017 naming the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Department of Physical Transport Management, Ministry of Finance, Department of Transport Management and Decatur Tiger Company as defendants.
The then government had decided to amend the Motor Vehicles and Transport Management Act 2049 BS to allow the embossed number plate to be used in Nepali language.
