Ramechhap. At least 12 people were killed in a bus accident near Manthali, the district headquarters of Ramechhap district. According to Manthali Hospital’s Medical Superintendent Dr Keshav Singh Dhami, 8 people including the bus driver were injured in the accident.

The accident took place when a passenger bus (State 03-01-005 Kha 9975) en route to Okhaldhunga from Kathmandu plunged into the Tamakoshi River some 100 meters down from the road at Manthali Municipality-6 in Ramechhap.

According to Ramechhap Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhola Bhatta, the injured are undergoing treatment at Khurkot-based Shuva Jeevan Hospital, Manthali Hospital and Tamakoshi Hospital. Police have taken the bus driver under control. The search for the remaining passengers is still underway, police said.
