Kathmandu. The Nepali Congress (NC) has set a target to include non-resident Nepali players in the national team. The statement was made public by party President Gagan Kumar Thapa on Thursday.

“We will make legal provisions to enhance the sense of Nepaliness by involving the Non-Resident Nepali youths in national and international sports competitions and develop the sports sector of Nepal as a whole,” reads the pledge. ’

Aware of the recent exodus of Nepali national team players abroad, the general sports lovers have hoped that this would contribute to the development of sports in Nepal.

In the absence of this system in Nepal, the second and third generation young players in the Diaspora have not been able to represent the country in other countries of the world.

For this, the existing Sports Development Act should also be amended.
