Kathmandu. The World AI Alliance has been officially announced in New York City, USA. The organization was established on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and is led by Ujjwal Raya of Nepal.
Nepal’s renowned technology entrepreneur and government advisor Ujjwal Rae has been appointed as the founding chairman of the World AI Alliance. This appointment is a matter of pride for all Nepali citizens and the Nepali community around the world.
Senior Vice President of CAN Federation and technology entrepreneur Chiranjibi Adhikari described this achievement as a big milestone in the information technology sector of Nepal. As the leader of an umbrella organization of ICT organizations in Nepal, Adhikari said Raya’s success has proved that the capabilities of Nepali human resources are world-class.
Raya was the key advisor for the design of Nepal’s first national AI policy. He worked as the Chief Strategist for the development of Nepal’s 30-year IT Roadmap.
Internationally, he is active in setting global AI standards as a member of the IEEE Ethical AI Committee in the United States.
The institute will focus on the ethical and responsible use of AI. It aims to build on Ethical Governance: Bringing Fairness and Transparency to AI Algorithms and Training datasets, Education and Talent Search: Preparing Next-Generation AI Leaders through International Hackathons and Fellowships, Open Infrastructure: Making AI Software Openly Accessible in Areas like Health and Education, and Global Collaboration: Partnering for Inclusive AI Development among Countries and Regions.
Headquartered in New York, the institute is comprised of the world’s best experts. The team comprises Ujjwal Raya and Suyog Parajuli, a cyber security expert from Youth Nepal, as the general secretary. Experts such as Chris Ekman, Chris Salsbury, Melvin Ralph Manchaun and Dhrubo Aditya will mentor the organization.
“The World AI Alliance is not just an organization, it’s a campaign to ensure that AI is used for human good and transparency,” said Ray.
