Superintendent of Police (SP) at the District Police Office, Sumit Khadka, said that Manandhar was taken out alive after cutting the spare parts of the bus and has been sent to Kathmandu for treatment. According to him, it has been difficult to carry out the rescue on time due to lack of adequate rescue materials and difficult terrain.
“The passengers were screaming to save me. We didn’t have any equipment that could lift or cut the bus immediately. We consoled him for a long time, took a machine with a generator and cut the silencer and rear tyre part of the bus to pull him out,” SP Khadka said, adding, “He has been referred to Kathmandu for treatment and his condition is normal.” ”
At least 17 people died on the spot while one died when a bus (Ga 2 Kha 1421) en route to Kathmandu from Pokhara met with an accident in Dhading district today. The injured 26 are receiving treatment at various hospitals. The bodies of the deceased have been kept at Dhading Hospital and Gajuri Health Centre for post-mortem.
