Baitadi. Baitadi: The Jhulaghat border transit along the Indian border will be closed for three days in view of the upcoming elections.

Chief District Officer Krishna Thapa said the border points would be closed 72 hours before the election. According to him, the Jhulaghat transit point, which borders with India, will be closed from 12.00 midnight of March 2 to 12.00 midnight on March 4 in order to hold the elections in a free, fair and fear-free environment.

The District Security Committee stated that high security alert has been maintained along the 31-km border with India.

Chief District Officer Thapa said that the movement of people from various ghats of the Mahakali river would be closed during the election period as boats are used to cross the ghats of the Mahakali river in the Tallo Sorad area.

During the last election, the borders were closed for 72 hours. It is stated that the border point could be opened in coordination between the two countries if it has to be opened at that time for essential works.
