Baglung. Locals are happy with the blacktopping of the rural road after 26 years of the opening of the track.

The Mulpani-Titaure, Odarchaur-Dhodeni and Ganeshghumti-Nirayghat roads adjoining the district headquarters have been blacktopped. After the blacktopping of the road, it has become easier to travel and transport goods.

A total of 12.2 km of the Mulpani-Titaure road, 2.5 km of Odarchaur-Dhodeni road and 1.5 km of Ganeshghumti-Nirayghat road have been blacktopped under the Urban Governance and Infrastructure Development Programme.

Baglung municipality mayor Basanta Kumar Shrestha said the road was constructed with the assistance of Rs 480 million from the World Bank. According to him, the road has made it easier for the rural people to travel and market local products. Mayor Shrestha said that the road that lies in three wards of Baglung municipality would change the living standard of the people.

“It has been a long time since the track was opened, but the locals were troubled by the dust in the village due to lack of blacktopping till now. ”

The three roads connect wards 1, 4 and 7 of Baglung municipality. Tulasi Sapkota, a local, said that the road has been freed from dust and mud after the blacktopping. According to him, until a few months ago, the dust and mud used to reach the kitchen while driving in front of the house. Another local, Prem BK, said that it would now be easier to travel to Baglung bazaar. Earlier, it used to take one and a half hours to become difficult and narrow, but now the market can be reduced in 25-30 minutes, he said.
