Kathmandu. For the first time in Nepal’s insurance industry, Citizen Life Insurance has organized a panel discussion program titled ‘Citizen Leaders Discourse’.

A special panel discourse session of about 40 minutes duration was conducted in the program held at Hotel Pokhara Grande on February 19. The program was facilitated by Kuber Pathak, head of the training department of the company. The company’s citizen leaders Ishwori Prasad Baral, Tuk Bahadur Rana, Suresh Babu Sharma, Raju Shrestha and Ms. Laxmi Lamichhane participated in the program as panelists. The discussion focused on important topics such as success, career development, recruitment, policy firmness, etc.

In the panel discussion, Tuk Bahadur Rana presented the lapse policy as a common challenge of the entire agency business and pointed out the need to focus on the stability of the policy, not just the sales. He suggested practical solutions such as a post-training monitoring system, a self-learning culture, a customer service calendar and a renewal reminder mechanism.

Similarly, Raju Shrestha shared his views on how an agent should be as per the need of the day in the changing social context. He pointed out the need to transform the agent as a professional financial adviser, not just selling policies, in the age of digital, aware and comparable clients.

The session lasted for about 40 minutes and was very effective, inspiring and participatory. The issues raised during the event created an in-depth dialogue on the professional challenges related to the agency business, potential areas for improvement, and long-term strategies. Following the success of the program, the company pledges to continue such conversation-oriented and leadership development-focused programs in the days ahead.

Citizen Life Insurance has always prioritized leadership development, transparent communication and professional empowerment and has established new practices in the insurance sector. The “Citizen Leader Discourse” is seen as an important and far-sighted step in this regard.

Sharing his 21 years of experience, Dr. Ishwari Prasad Baral said that insurance is not just a profession, it takes time to understand its value and social responsibility. He said that the insurance business would become more effective in rural areas due to relationship-based trust, increasing financial awareness and direct access to agents.

Prof. Laxmi Lamichhane said that insurance is a completely faith-based profession and women can be very successful in this field. She was of the view that a sense of responsibility, sensitivity and concern towards family could effectively disseminate the message of family-centered safety. He expressed the view that the sensitivity and responsibility of women is the strength of the insurance business.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Suresh Babu Sharma said that the role of an agent is very important in expanding the access of insurance to a large number of people in Nepal. Stating that the agent should not only be a sales person, but a financial teacher, risk advisor and family protector, he expressed the view that ‘insurance in every house, security in every family’ should be made a common mission.
