NC unveils Vision 10 pledge letter for Kathmandu Valley development

KATHMANDU — The Nepali Congress (NC) has released its Kathmandu Valley Development Commitment Letter Vision 10 on behalf of its candidates for the House of Representatives.

The affidavit was made public in the presence of General Secretary Pradip Poudel in the presence of the candidates of all three districts.

It is stated in the pledge that all three districts would be developed as a clean, beautiful, developed, modern, well-governed and vibrant city by formulating and implementing an integrated urban development plan keeping in mind the unique features of the place.

The Kathmandu Valley Development Authority (KVDA) will be strengthened and empowered to implement the Greater Federal Capital Restructuring Plan by managing the city as per the carrying capacity of the Valley.

Similarly, in order to make the road transport in the Kathmandu Valley easy, systematic and predictable, the road infrastructure including mass transport will be developed as a walkable city by paying special attention to the needs of pedestrians, cyclists and all citizens while constructing road infrastructure including mass transport and managing transport by adopting integrated urban transport and smart mobility policy.

The pledged letter has pledged to prepare an integrated standard for the control of pollution in the Kathmandu Valley and an integrated plan would be formulated and implemented for the protection and management of public and archaeological sites. Likewise, the letter also pledged to implement an integrated plan for conservation, purification and beautification of the rivers in the Kathmandu Valley and to conserve the surrounding national parks, public forests and parks for a healthy lifestyle.

The NC candidates from the Kathmandu Valley have pledged to make the education sector timely, technology-friendly and practical, ensuring easy access to quality education and making health services accessible, qualitative and technology-friendly to make the entire health system world-class.

The pledging paper has included formulation and implementation of integrated land use policy in the Kathmandu Valley, formulation and implementation of urban infrastructure, building code and revival master plan with sewerage management and operation of command center with early warning for disaster management.

The candidates have also shared a common pledge to create employment opportunities to reduce unemployment, poverty and inequality, to run special programs for youth-targeted employment and enterprises related to digital technology and IT, to alleviate poverty through social security package and to make life easier for the people of Kathmandu Valley by reducing inequality in education.

The candidates have also pledged to formulate a comprehensive plan for the sustainable solution of the drinking water problem in the Kathmandu Valley by formulating a comprehensive plan keeping in mind the population of at least the next 50 years and to address the condition of underground water surface.

General Secretary Pradip Poudel said the sustainable management and development of the Kathmandu Valley was in the priority of the NC.

“This commitment letter will also guide us to work unitedly for the development of the valley in the days to come,” he said. Prabal Thapa has filed his candidacy for Kathmandu-1, Kathmandu-2 Kabir Sharma, Kathmandu-3 candidate Ramesh Aryal, Kathmandu-4 candidate Sachin Timilsina and Kathmandu-5 general secretary Pradip Poudel.

Similarly, Krishna Sabuj Baniya of Kathmandu-6, Pramod Hari Guragain of Kathmandu-7, Sapana Rajbhandari of Kathmandu-8, Nanu Bastola of Kathmandu-9 and Himal Karki of Kamadau-10 have also pledged their candidacies.

Similarly, NC candidate Kiran Neupane of Bhaktapur-1, Kabir Rana of Bhaktapur-2, Udaya Shumsher Rana of Lalitpur-1, Prem Krishna Maharjan of Lalitpur-3 and Jitendra Kumar Shrestha of Lalitpur-3 have also expressed their commitment in the affidavit.
