. KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Administration Office (DAO) has banned the activities of musical programmes and fairs on the occasion of this year’s Holi festival.

Issuing a notice, the office has urged all not to gather in open spaces, organize musical programs by constructing stages, organize fairs and festivals, and sell and distribute alcohol.TAG_OPEN_div_14

Assistant Chief District Officer Mukti Ram Rijal said the decision was taken keeping in mind the security of the elections.TAG_OPEN_div_12 The administration has taken special measures in view of the possibility of election campaigning in the name of Holi festival.

The notice cautions against carrying out activities violating the election code of conduct. People are advised not to wear logo, sticker, clothes, cap, vest, T-shirt, jacket, shirt, scarf, batch, mask or locket bearing the election symbol or flag and carry a bag. According to the administration, the use of vests, T-shirts, shirts, scarves and other items with election symbol or photo of the candidates has been completely banned.

} Similarly, in order to make the Holi festival dignified and well-managed, it is forbidden to apply colors and abir or throw lola against anyone’s will. The administration has appealed to one and all to celebrate the festival by maintaining peace, security and public decorum.
