Kathmandu. Newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chang Maoming paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sushila Karki at the latter’s office in Singha Durbar on Friday. On the occasion, Prime Minister Karki congratulated the newly-appointed ambassadors and wished them a successful term. He also expressed confidence that Ambassador Zhang Maoming would be successful in discharging the responsibility given to him efficiently and would be successful in playing an important role to bring the friendly relations between the two countries to a new height.

On the occasion, Chinese Ambassador Maoming thanked PM Karki for allowing him time to meet with him amidst his busy schedule. On the occasion, Ambassador Maoming congratulated PM Karki for ensuring the election in a peaceful environment by restoring peace, security and rule of law in the country. He also said that Nepal has China’s support and cooperation in this process.

Prime Minister Karki also expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for its solidarity and support in the election, which is an important part of Nepal’s democratic process. She also expressed gratitude on behalf of Nepal and people for China’s support and opportunities for partnership in various development projects.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Karki and Chinese Ambassador Maoming exchanged greetings and best wishes on the occasion of the New Year (Horse Year) being celebrated by the people of both countries. Stating that culture, geography and historical ties closely connected both the countries, the Prime Minister said Nepal is clear as ever that Nepal is adhering to the Panchasheel principles, one China policy and would not allow any activities against the interests of its immediate neighbors.

Stating that there could be problems in one country in case of instability, she stressed the need for strengthening mutual cooperation for regional peace and stability. On the occasion, Chinese Ambassador Maoming thanked the Chinese people and President of China for this policy and firm stand.
