Supreme Court to open on holidays

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) is to remain open on the occasion of International Women’s Day and public holiday announced by the government for the election to the House of Representatives 2082. Particularly, the court has said that the service will be operated for a certain period of time to continue the hearing of the writ petition of habeas corpus.

Supreme Court spokesperson Arjun Koirala said the court will remain open from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm today for the hearing of the writ petitions on the occasion of International Women’s Day and March 7.

The Supreme Court has stated that arrangement has been made to hear the writ petition even on public holidays as the writ petition of habeas corpus is directly related to the personal freedom and fundamental rights of the individual. The court has urged the concerned parties to be present at the scheduled time and proceed with the process.
