Kathmandu. Vote counting has not yet begun in four constituencies of the House of Representatives while voting is underway in 161 places under the first-past-the-post (first-past-the-spot) election.
Information Officer at the Election Commission, Suman Ghimire, said that the vote counting could not be started due to delay in the collection of ballot boxes in the remote areas owing to geographical difficulties and bad weather. Vote counting has not yet begun in Sankhuwasabha Constituency-1, Gorkha Constituency-1, Mugu Constituency-1 and Dhanusha Constituency-1.
The ballot boxes have been collected in Sankhuwasabha and the counting of votes will begin soon after an all-party meeting. In Gorkha-1, a Nepal Army helicopter has been brought to the district headquarters. Similarly, preparations are underway to count the pot boxes in Mugu as soon as they are collected.
Efforts are underway to forge an all-party consensus on the vote counting in Dhanusha constituency-1 and the counting process will begin soon.
