Kathmandu. The results of the elections to the House of Representatives have made the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN and RPP among others visible. Due to the craze of the RSP across the country, the top leaders of these parties could not enter the parliament.
After Gagan Thapa was made the president, the NC office-bearers, who had fielded candidates in 165 constituencies saying ‘we will change the party, change the country’, could not enter the parliament. After removing Sher Bahadur Deuba from the post of party president, the new leadership had said ‘Congress has changed, now we will change the country’. But the people did not believe it.
Those who boast that no one other than KP Oli can lead the UML have been watched. From the UML chairman to the general secretary, everyone was watching the election results. Everywhere, the RSP rang the bell loudly. This election will barred Nepali Congress President and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli from entering the parliament this time.
Thapa is contesting from Sarlahi-4. He is contesting against RSP’s Amresh Kumar Singh. Singh is ahead of Thapa by almost double the votes. Thapa is unlikely to win in this constituency. The counting of votes is underway.
Former Health Minister Pradip Poudel has been defeated in Kathmandu-5. He lost to Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) candidate Sasmit Pokharel by a huge margin. Pokharel garnered 30,737 votes while Poudel bagged only 9,159 votes.
Similarly, another general secretary Gururaj Ghimire and joint general secretary Farmullah Mansoor also suffered a crushing defeat. Ghimire lost to Santosh Rajbanshi of Rastriya Samajwadi Party in Morang-4. Rajbanshi garnered 40,833 votes while Ghimire garnered 12,818 votes.
Joint General Secretary Farmullah Mansoor, who is contesting from Bara-3, suffered a crushing defeat to Rastriya Samajwadi Party’s Arvind Sah. RSP’s Sah garnered 40,697 votes while NC’s Mansoor garnered 10,052 votes.
Similarly, another joint general secretary Prakash Snehi Rasaili could not enter the parliament from Bajhang.
Mahar defeated UML’s Ain Bahadur Mahar in Bajhang district with 18,543 votes. Rasaili garnered 16,304 votes. Rasaili was trailing by 2,239 votes.
Similarly, another joint general secretary Uday Shumsher Rana was stopped by the voters of Lalitpur-1. He lost to RSP’s Buddha Ratna Maharjan. Maharjan garnered 23,373 votes while Rana garnered 13,520 votes.
Another joint general secretary Yogendra Chaudhary is also likely to be defeated. Chaudhary’s 19,000 votes are less than that of RSP’s Devraj Pathak. Pathak got 30,174 votes while Chaudhary got 11,228 votes.
Another joint general secretary Karna Bahadur Budha is also unlikely to win. Budha, who is contesting from Dolpa, is facing a huge margin against Dhan Bahadur Budha, the candidate of the Communist Party of Nepal. At the time of filing this report, Karna has garnered 427 votes while Dhan has received 2,501 votes.
Nepali Congress (NC) leader Shekhar Koirala lost to Rabina Acharya of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). Koirala received 12,850 votes while Acharya got 55,513 votes in Morang-6.
Similarly, Minendra Rijal of Morang-2 is also on the verge of defeat. At the time of filing this report, he has received 12,300 votes. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RSP) candidate Krishna Karki received 39,503 votes.
The situation is the same not only in the Nepali Congress but also in the UML. From the president to the general secretary, everyone lost. Chairman KP Sharma Oli is facing a crushing defeat at the hands of senior leader of Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) Balendra Shah.
At the time of filing this report, Shah has garnered 59,658 votes while Oli has garnered 16,350 votes. Oli is sure to suffer a humiliating defeat.
Not only the UML president, vice-chairperson, secretary and general secretary were all defeated. CPN-UML vice-chair and former finance minister Bishnu Poudel lost to Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RSP)’s Sulav Kharel in Rupandehi-2. Kharel garnered 56,550 votes while Poudel was limited to 12,861 votes.
Similarly, Prithvi Subba Gurung of CPN-UML could not win from Lamjung. He lost to Dharma Raj KC of Rastriya Janata Party. KC garnered 33,898 votes. Gurung got 16,876 votes. CPN-UML leader Pradeep Kumar Gyawali was defeated in Gulmi-1. Sagar Dhakal of Rastriya Samajwadi Party won in the constituency. Dhakal got 29,642 votes while Gyawali got 15,181 votes. NC’s Chandra Kanta Bhandari was defeated in the same constituency by securing 13,505 votes.
Similarly, UML’s vice-chair Gokarna Bista was defeated by RSP’s Govinda Panthi in Gulmi-2. Panthi got 16,967 votes while Bista got 16,406 votes. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RSP) candidate Bipin Kumar Acharya has been elected from Dang constituency-2.
Acharya garnered 43,557 votes. His nearest rival was CPN-UML’s Shanker Pokhrel who got 15,282 votes. UML Deputy General Secretary Lekhraj Bhatta, who is contesting from Kailali-4, is also unlikely to win. Rastriya Janata Party (RSP) candidate Khemraj Koirala received 16,319 votes while Bhattarai came third with 4,721 votes.
Another deputy general secretary Raghubir Mahaseth is also likely to win. Yes. Rastriya Samajbadi Party (RSP) candidate Raj Kishor Mahato got 25,842 votes while Mahaseth got 4,632 votes. CPN-UML Secretary Sherdhan Rai is contesting against Dhruba Raj Rai of Labour and Culture Party in Bhojpur. Rai got 7,447 votes while Sherdhan got 6,329 votes.
UML secretary Mahesh Basnet, a close confidant of Oli, was also defeated in Bhaktapur-2. He lost to Rastriya Janata Party (RSP) candidate Rajiv Khatri. Khatri garnered 42,334 votes. Basnet garnered 10,996 votes.
UML secretary Dr Rajan Bhattarai lost to RSP’s Pukar Bam in Kathmandu-4. Bam bagged 29,142 votes while Bhattarai garnered 5,733 votes.
UML secretary Bhanubhakta Dhakal was defeated in Tehrathum. He lost to Nepali Congress candidate Santosh Subba. Subba got 11,561 votes while Dhakal got 10,682 votes.
