Kathmandu. The swearing-in of newly-elected members of the National Assembly is taking place today.
According to General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat Padma Prasad Pandey, the swearing-in ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm today at the hall of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee in Singha Durbar. The election was held on January 24 for 18 members of the National Assembly.
According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, National Assembly Chair Narayan Prasad Dahal will administer the oath of office and secrecy as per the Article 86 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal. He or she has to present herself in her identity attire along with a copy of her certificate of membership of National Assembly and citizenship certificate from the Election Commission.
As per the law, a member wishing to take oath of office and secrecy in his/her mother tongue other than Nepali language has to translate the details of the oath of office and secrecy into his/her mother tongue. According to the Election Commission, Roshni Meche, Somnath Portel and Sunil Bahadur Thapa were elected to the National Assembly from Koshi Province on January 24.
Rekha Kumari Jha, Dharmendra Paswan, Ranjit Karna and Mahantha Thakur were elected from Madhes Province. Likewise, Geeta Devkata and Prem Prasad Dangal have been elected from Bagmati Province, Jagat Timilsina and Samjhana Devkota from Gandaki Province.
Mina Singh Rakhal and Lalit Jung Shahi were elected from Karnali Province. Similarly, Lila Kumari Bhandari and Khamma Bahadur Khati were elected from Sudurpaschim Province.
