Health Ministry urges people to avoid air pollution

Kathmandu. The Ministry of Health and Population has urged one and all to stay safe from air pollution.

Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr Prakash Budhathoki, urged one and all to stay safe as air pollution has increased in the Kathmandu Valley. He urged one and all to remain alert as air pollution can cause problems to heart, blood vessels, lungs, asthma, cancer, eyes and kidneys.

Spokesperson Budhathoki urged the people not to go out of the health care groups as far as possible as the pollution also affects the chronic patients and pregnant women. The Ministry has urged people to adopt special precaution as air pollution affects children, senior citizens and chronic respiratory ailments like asthma and cough.

The ministry has asked everyone not to go out in the morning and evening and to wear masks if they go out. According to him, the pollution has increased due to old vehicles, forest fires, dust from industries and various construction materials.

According to the Ministry, pollution will remain in Kathmandu for one more week. The sky in the Kathmandu Valley is overcast due to air pollution.

According to the Department of Environment, the pollution level is increasing in different parts of the country due to the adverse weather in the past few days. It is said fine particulate matter has increased especially in big cities of the country including Kathmandu and Pokhara.
