According to the Jomsom Civil Aviation Office, although Tara Airlines has scheduled to operate flights from Pokhara to Jomsom on Monday and Tara Airlines and Summit Airlines on Tuesday.
Earlier, Tara Airlines, the private airline that has been operating Pokhara-Jomsom flights, had decided to suspend its flight from December 4 to March 1. Similarly, Summit Airlines, another private airline that has been operating flights to Nepal, has also decided to shut down its Pokhara-Jomsom flight from December 1 to February 1.
The Pokhara-Jomsom flight service, which was closed due to extreme cold, possible snowfall and adverse weather, has been resumed a little later than the scheduled time. Tara Airlines, which has been operating regular flights to Kathmandu from March 1, has decided to resume flights from March 1.
Likewise, the private airlines company that has been operating flights to Nepal from February 1 has delayed the flight by more than a month due to the elections.
The Pokhara-Jomsom air service has resumed after three months, said Deepak Pokharel, chief of Jomsom Civil Aviation Office. According to him, although all preparations are being made to resume air service from Monday, the twiner planes of the private airlines company could not operate flights on Monday and Tuesday due to bad weather.
Civil aviation chief Pokharel said that the flights of Tara Air on Monday and Tara Air and Summit Airlines were scheduled on Tuesday after a gap of three months. Two flights of Tara Airlines and three flights of Summit Airlines were scheduled to fly from Pokhara to Jomsom on Tuesday. Pokhara-Jomsom air service would be regular if weather permits, Pokharel said.
The private airlines companies that operate flights to Mustang every year close their flights in the months of Poush and Magh and resume their flights in the month of Falgun as there is a lot of tourism activity in Mustang with the arrival of the spring season. Though the tourist season has begun this year, the number of tourists could not come due to the election to the House of Representatives on March 4.
Most of the Indian tourists arrive in Mustang for the pilgrimage and pilgrimage via Pokhara-Jomsom air route. Station In-charge of Tara Airlines, Jomsom, Suman Lalchan said although the arrival of tourists was affected due to the elections, the number of tourists visiting the airport after the elections has been increased. According to him, air passengers have started booking tickets for the Pokhara-Jomsom air service with the conclusion of the elections.
Of the 150,000 tourists visiting Mustang every year, 70 percent of them are Indian visitors. The number of Pokhara-Jomsom air passengers has been decreasing as the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road, a national pride road, has become easier in recent period.
The number of flights is decreasing in recent period as Indian tourists visit Muktinath shrine via Beni-Jomsom road. At one time, private airlines used to operate up to 18 flights a day to Mustang. Lately, there have not been more than 10 flights daily.
Tara Airlines and Summit Airlines have been operating flights from Pokhara-Jomsom to Mustang. Although Nepal Airlines has a ticket booking office in Jomsom, it has not been able to operate for a long time.
