Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the government to send a writ petition challenging the decision of the Attorney General to amend two charge sheets filed against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RPP) President Rabi Lamichhane. The hearing will be scheduled for March 1.

A division bench of Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Shreekanta Poudel issued the order to send the written response of all sides for the full hearing of the case.

Senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi and others had filed a writ petition at the apex court challenging the decision of Attorney General Sabita Bhandari to amend the charge sheet against former home minister Lamichhane on money laundering and organized crime. The first hearing of the petition was held and a show cause order was issued.

Senior advocate Tripathi, law student Ayush Badal and Yubaraj Poudel Safal have filed a writ petition calling the decision of the Office of the Attorney General “prima facie illegal, ill-intentioned and arbitrary”.

Attorney General Sabita Bhandari on January 13, 2002 had decided to amend the charge sheet in the cases filed against Lamichhane at the Kaski, Kathmandu, Rupandehi and Parsa district courts.
