Nepal government not to grant ‘on-arrival’ visa to Iranian citizens

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The government of Nepal has decided not to grant visa on arrival to the citizens of Iran who want to visit Nepal.

The government has decided to allow the Iranian citizens to enter Nepal only if they obtain visa from the Nepali embassy abroad.

With this, the number of countries in Nepal where on-arrival visa is not granted has reached 13, according to the Department of Immigration. Other countries that do not get such visas are Nigeria, Ghanaia, Zimbabwe, Switzerland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan and Syria.

Tikaram Dhakal, officiating director general of the Department of Immigration, said that the people having travel documents of refugee status can enter Nepal only after obtaining visa from the Nepali Embassy abroad.
