Myagdi. The electricity generated from the 22.5 MW Upper Thulokhola Hydropower Project has been connected to the central grid.

The project constructed by the Thulokhola Hydropower Limited at Raghuganga Rural Municipality-7 has completed the construction of physical infrastructures, installation of equipment and internal test and connected to the central grid. Project chief Shiva Sagar Yadav said the project has started being sent to the central transmission line for test since 6:00 pm on March 12.

“The test carried out for five days in the presence of a technical team of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) was successful. ”

The project has produced 13.86 MW of electricity in the current dry season, Yadav said. The test production has started after completing the installation of dam, power house, pipeline, transmission line and power house equipment.

The construction of the project had begun in 2080 BS. The project construction site is located in a geographically remote and remote area. A dam at Sugurthalama, a descender, 2,900 meters main pipeline and 300 meters search shaft pipeline have been installed. Engineer Sanjeev Neupane said that the switchyard has been constructed on the premises of the powerhouse, which has two turbines.

This project is of a run-of-the-river nature. A six-kilometer-long 132 KV transmission line has been constructed from Fedi to Bandi by constructing 14 towers. The electricity generated by the project has been connected to the central grid through 220 KV Dana-Khurkot transmission line through Tilkenichaur in collaboration with Thulokhola and Chimkhola-Chimkhola-Mangale-Rahughat Hydropower Project. The distance of the transmission line from Phedi to Tilkenichaur is 23. It is 5 kilometers.

Citizens Bank, Machhapuchchhre and Agriculture Development Bank have invested 70 per cent of the total loan for the project. The promoter will have 10 percent investment and 20 percent of the investment will be raised through the general public through the issuance of shares.

The road linking Beni to the project construction site was obstructed due to upgrading in April-May and landslide in Malang during the rainy season, causing problems in transporting equipment from powerhouse, transmission line and switchyard.

Three hydropower projects have already been constructed in Rahughat and its tributaries. The 35.5 MW Chimkhola-Rahughat-Mangale hydropower project promoted by Tundi Power and the 48.5 MW Upper Rahughat Hydropower Project have already come into operation.

The 21.3-megawatt Thulokhola Hydropower Project constructed by Samyukta Power Limited at Thulokhola, an auxiliary of Rahughat, had started commercial power generation from last August. Raghuganga Hydropower Project, a subsidiary of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), is in the final phase of construction of 40 MW Rahughat Hydropower Project.
