Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has stressed the need to elect the next leadership of the FNCCI unanimously.
Addressing a program organized on the occasion of the 59th establishment day of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) in Lalitpur on Wednesday, President Dhakal said that the FNCCI would be the base for institutional unity if leadership was elected through consensus and cooperation.
He was of the view that FNCCI would be stronger and more effective when its leadership was elected on common consensus as it is a common organization of the private sector.
Dhakal stressed on the need to develop Lalitpur as a city of original production and increase production while maintaining the quality of production.
“There is huge potential for increasing exports if traditional skills, arts and local products are promoted,” he said. But to connect the original product to the international market, it is necessary to increase the quantity along with the quality,” he said.
He stressed on increasing investment in productive sector, use of technology and increasing export through market expansion. He also stressed the need of strengthening the chain from production to market by coordinating with the local level, private sector and the government.
He also lauded the role played by Lalitpur Chamber of Industries in entrepreneurship development, employment generation and overall economic development.
Saying policy reform was inevitable for creating an industrial climate in the country, he stressed the need of investment-friendly policy, simple taxation system, infrastructure development and reduction of administrative hassles. He stressed that the state should listen to the voice of the private sector seriously and ensure the effective participation of the private sector in the policy-making process.
Stating that the amendment to the FNCCI statute incorporating demands and suggestions raised from the district and town levels, Dhakal expressed the belief that it would make the organization more inclusive, representative and stronger. He said that the amended statute will increase the representation of district, town and women entrepreneurs.
