Kathmandu. Prime Minister Balendra Shah held a 2-hour long discussion with industrialists and businessmen on investment promotion.
The meeting was attended by industrialists and businessmen Binod Chaudhary, Pawan Golyan, Umesh Shrestha and Chandra Dhakal.
Dhakal, who is also the immediate past president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), said he was happy to see the PM positively interested and positive views on the issues of promotion of domestic and direct investment, investment in infrastructure, employment generation and revenue growth.
The commitment of the Prime Minister to bring new laws to create investment-friendly environment in the country is encouraging for the private sector, he said.
Dhakal also said that the Prime Minister was positive on the issue of forming a permanent mechanism to hold regular meetings between the government and the private sector to hold regular discussions and coordination on the problems, suggestions and policy issues of the private sector.
“The fact that the meeting was scheduled for half an hour and extended to two hours shows how meaningful this interaction was. At a time when the morale of businessmen and investors is somewhat weak, such a direct discussion between the government and the private sector and the commitment to increase investment confidence is a good sign,” he said.
