Chitwan. CHITWAN: The Chitwan National Park (CNP) has arrested 128 people on various charges since mid-July this year.

According to CNP’s information officer Avinash Thapa Magar, most of the people arrested are illegal fishing.

The National Park has arrested 70 people for illegal fishing in the Rapti River and took action against them. Likewise, action has been taken against three persons on the rhino charge, five on salak case, 11 for plucking weeds, 30 for illegal grazing, one for bird killing, four for entering the national park without permission and four others.

During this period, the office has registered four different types of cases at the court. Two cases related to salak have been registered, one case related to rhino being injured in a vehicle hit and one case related to killing a rhino by electrocution has been filed at the court.

The park has decided nine cases in the current fiscal year. According to him, out of 26 cases transferred since last fiscal year and one case registered this year, nine have been decided. Currently, 18 cases are under investigation. Of the ongoing cases, seven are related to forest while 11 are related to wildlife.
