Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection (DoM), which has been regularly monitoring and inspecting the market, has imposed a fine on a firm on Sunday.
The Department has slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 to Mumbai JICA based in Sundhara of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-22 after it was found negligent in course of on-site inspection and monitoring. The department had inspected 13 different farms on Sunday. According to the Department, action was taken against the firm as per the Consumer Protection Act, 2075.
Among them, 12 firms have been given corrective instructions. The Department has been carrying out market monitoring and inspection in the presence of local people’s representatives, consumer rights activists and other stakeholders.
