Kathmandu. The World Water and Weather Day is being celebrated across the globe with the slogan ‘Today’s Observation, Tomorrow’s Security’. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is celebrated in 1961 to commemorate the establishment of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in 1950.
On the occasion, discussions would be held on increasing weather awareness, importance of forecasting system and measures to reduce the climate risks.
Meteorologist at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Sujan Subedi, said a programme would be held to raise awareness about weather related issues, importance of forecasting system and measures to reduce climate risk.
World Meteorological Day is celebrated on March 23 every year. On this occasion, awareness is spread around the world about the role of weather and climate services and their contribution to human life, agriculture, water resources and disaster management.
