Kathmandu. Halesi Tuwachung Municipality has taken stern action against the contractor for delaying the construction of the basic hospital building. The municipality has impounded the vehicles of the contractor after concluding that the construction work had been stalled for a long time.
Deputy Mayor Ramesh Raut said that the municipality has impounded the vehicle of the contractor after the construction of the under-construction 15-bed basic hospital building at Mahadevsthan (Halesi) of the municipality did not progress as per the expectation. The municipality has impounded a vehicle (Bagmati State 16 Cha 6802) belonging to contractor Ramesh Basnet of Namuna-Himalayan JV, Biratnagar.
According to Deputy Mayor Raut, the municipality has kept the vehicle, key and vehicle registration certificate under the control of the municipality from March 8 until the construction works begin by mobilizing the required construction materials and human resources as per the contract agreement.
Though the hospital building was supposed to be completed by 2080 BS, the first phase of the building is yet to be completed. The municipality said it was compelled to take such a decision as there was no continuity in the construction work and no progress was seen despite repeated warnings in writing and verbally.
