Nepalis gnaw 40,000 kg of teeth in 8 months, around Rs 15 million released

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The import of toothpicks has increased significantly in Nepal. In the first eight months of the current fiscal year, the import of toothpicks amounted to Rs 14.2 million.

Nepal imported 40,510 kg of toothpicks till mid-March of the current fiscal year. The government has collected Rs 54.27 lakh from the import of toothpicks in the review period.

According to the data released by the Department of Customs, the highest number of toothpicks have been imported from China in the first eight months of the current fiscal year. Imports from China include 28,240 kilograms of tooth-picks and 11,743 kilograms of wooden toothpicks.

Likewise, 50 kg of toothpaste and 275 kg of wooden toothpaste were imported from India during the period. Likewise, 202 kg wooden toothpick was imported from Thailand.
