Kathmandu. The newly elected members of the House of Representatives will take oath of office and secrecy at 2:00 pm today. All preparations for the swearing-in ceremony have been completed, according to the Federal Parliament Secretariat.

The senior-most member of the House of Representatives, Arjun Narsingh KC, will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the House of Representatives, according to Federal Parliament Secretariat Spokesperson Ek Ram Giri.TAG_OPEN_div_22 President Ram Chandra Poudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to KC on Wednesday.

The swearing-in ceremony of the members of the House of Representatives and secrecy will be held at the newly-constructed multi-purpose hall in Singha Durbar.TAG_OPEN_div_20 According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, preparations are underway to take oath of office and secrecy in 47 languages other than Nepali. Of them, 17 are preparing to take oath in Maithili.

According to Article 99 and 91 (5) of the Constitution of Nepal and Article 75 of the Election of the Members of the House of Representatives Act, 2074, the oath of office and secrecy is to be taken.TAG_OPEN_div_18

The Federal Parliament Secretariat has urged the locals to appear before the scheduled time along with a copy of the certificate of member of the House of Representatives, citizenship certificate and two copies of the recently taken passport size photograph from the Election Commission.TAG_OPEN_div_16 The Secretariat had already requested for attendance either formally or in the attire of one’s cultural identity.

The multi-purpose hall has been equipped with necessary seats, rostrum, speaker’s seat, general secretary, secretary, secretariat and other seating areas.TAG_OPEN_div_14

In the House of Representatives election held on March 4, Rastriya Swatantra Party won 182 seats, Nepali Congress 38, CPN-UML 25, Nepali Communist Party 17, Labour Culture Party seven and Rastriya Prajatantra Party five.TAG_OPEN_div_12
