. KATHMANDU: The newly elected members of the House of Representatives took oath of office and secrecy today. The parliament secretariat was informed that more than 63 of the 275 lawmakers would take oath in their mother tongues.
The senior-most member of the House of Representatives, Arjun Narsingh KC, administered the oath of office and secrecy to the lawmakers at the Parliament Building in Singha Durbar. Yagya Bahadur Bogati took oath in Achhami, Mohammad Ishtiyak Rai in Awadhi, Aakriti Awasthi in Doteli, Ganga Chhantyal in Chhantyal and Karishma Kathariya in Kathariya Tharu.
Likewise, Nishkal Rai took oath in Chamling language and Deepak Raj Bohara in Doteli language. Sujata Tamang and Parshuram Tamang took oath of office and secrecy in Tamang language. Kanta Chaudhary, Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, Geeta Chaudhary, Pushpa Kumari Chaudhary, Pramila Kumari Gachhadar and Surendra Chaudhary took oath of office and secrecy in Tharu language.
Anushka Shrestha, Kulbhakta Shakya, Kusum Maharjan, Kapa Maharjan, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, Ganga Laxmi Awal, Buddha Ratna Maharjan, Madan Krishna Shrestha and Rukesh Ranjit took oath in Nepal language.
Nitima Bhandari (Karki), Rabin Mahato, Rabindra Patel and Rajesh Kumar Chaudhary took oath in Bajjika language. Similarly, Ain Bahadur Mahar took oath in Bajhangi language.
Madhav Raj Rai, Kanhaiya Baniya, Arvind Sah, Buddhi Prasad Pant and Sushil Kumar Kanu took oath in Bhojpuri. Renuka Kaucha took oath in Magar Kham language. Pramod Kumar Mahto and Rajkishore Mahto took the oath in the Magahi language.
Ankita Thakur, Asha Jha, Ujjwal Kumar Jha, Deepak Kumar Sah, Kamini Kumari, Jog Kumar Barbariya Yadav, Tapeshwar Yadav, Deepak Kumar Sah, Narendra Sah Kalwar, Nisha Mehta, Purushottam Suprabhat Yadav, Manish Jha, Matrika Prasad Yadav, Ramji Yadav, Ruby Kumari, Shambhu Kumar Yadav, Shiv Shankar Yadav and Sitaram Sah took oath in Maithili language. Kriparam Rana took oath in Rana Tharu language.
Similarly, Purna Prasad Limbu, Santosh Subba and Suhang Nembang took oath in Limbu mother tongue. Khushbu Oli took oath of office and secrecy in Sanskrit. Assistant Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Ananta Prasad Koirala, said the names of 62 people had registered their names in the beginning for taking oath in the mother tongue but it was gradually being added.
