Balendra Shah to be sworn in as new PM today

Kathmandu. The country is going to get a new prime minister today.

President Ram Chandra Poudel is scheduled to administer the oath of office and secrecy to senior leader of Rastriya Swatantra Party Balendra Shah at the Office of the President, Shital Niwas.

Before that, it will be informed that leader Shah has been appointed as the Prime Minister. According to Article 76 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal, a single government is going to be formed.

According to the Office of the President, the swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister will take place in the afternoon. Various political parties, representatives of diplomatic missions in Nepal, civil society and high-level government officials have been invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony. Along with the swearing-in of the Prime Minister, the ministers will also be sworn in.

The Rastriya Swatantra Party has won 182 seats in the House of Representatives elections held on March 4. The party had already elected Shah as the parliamentary party leader on Thursday.

In the election to the House of Representatives, Shah secured 68,348 votes from Jhapa constituency-5. Senior-most member of the House of Representatives, Arjun Narsingh KC, administered the oath of office and secrecy to the lawmakers on Thursday.
