Kathmandu. Police have arrested seven people who had taken part in protest against the arrest of CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Spokesperson of the Kathmandu District Police Range, Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai said they were arrested after they tried to enter the prohibited area at Singha Durbar.
According to him, some protesters had burnt tyres in Babarmahal. During this time, there was a scuffle with the police. One of the protesters was hit on the head by the police.
Bhattarai said that the situation was brought under control by firing a shell of tear gas shell after the protesters started getting agitated.
After the arrest of Chairman Oli this morning, the party cadres had taken out a demonstration as per the decision taken by the CPN-UML. The UML cadres staged demonstrations in front of Maitighar, Babar Mahal and Singha Durbar South Gate in Kathmandu.
