. KATHMANDU: The government is to investigate the properties of the people holding public posts since 2048 BS and the property of officials and employees of the same nature.
For this, the government is preparing to collect, verify and investigate the property details of the chief political officials and high-ranking employees who held the public office from 2062/63 BS to the present (2082/83 BS).
Likewise, in the second phase, the government is preparing to investigate the properties of officials and employees who held public posts from 2048 BS to 2061/62 BS. The committee has stated that the investigation process would be conducted in an impartial and legal standard, evidence-based and impartial manner and the reports and recommendations submitted by the committee would be implemented through the bodies concerned.
KATHMANDU: A high-powered property investigation committee under the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers is to be formed within 15 days to end corruption, the tendency to hide assets and impunity prevalent in the country.
The committee will include experts from the field of law, finance, revenue and research and representatives of concerned bodies. For this, preparations are underway to ensure that the entire process is transparent and result-oriented by developing necessary legal and technical mechanisms.
The committee will be empowered to collect, analyse and recommend necessary documents, details and records.
The government is to prepare and implement a restructuring plan of the National Vigilance Centre within 30 days to promote good governance, control corruption and increase transparency and accountability in public service delivery.
