Kathmandu. Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has visited the Pashupatinath Temple. Earlier this morning, the former Prime Minister visited the premises of Pashupatinath and worshiped here. Along with the visit, he inspected the entire temple area.

This is his first visit to Pashupatinath after his appointment as Home Minister. It is said that he had reached the temple on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti today. It is seen as a special day from the religious and cultural point of view.

Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated as a very important festival for Hindus. It is believed that Lord Hanuman was born on this day. Hanuman is especially worshipped as a symbol of strength, devotion, courage and loyalty. Worship, hymns, kirtans and religious programs are organized in temples across the country, while there is a tradition of devotees fasting from early morning to visit the temple.

A large number of devotees thronged the Pashupatinath area since early morning. Special security arrangements were made and the temple premises looked orderly and disciplined. The presence of Home Minister Gurung made the security agencies more active.

After the visit, Home Minister Gurung wished for peace, stability and prosperity in the country. He also took information from the concerned bodies regarding the cleanliness and management of the temple area and the facilities of the pilgrims and directed them to make necessary improvements.

On the occasion, the office-bearers of the Pashupati Area Development Trust apprised the Home Minister about the present condition of the temple area, management challenges and ongoing development works. Gurung expressed the belief that the protection and promotion of religious places would also help the tourism sector.

Home Minister Gurung’s visit to Pashupatinath today has been taken as a step to give a positive message in the beginning of his term along with respect for religious faith and culture. Also, darshan on a holy day like Hanuman Jayanti has been seen as more special and meaningful.
