First session of House of Representatives begins: Three ordinances to be tabled on party basis

. The first session of the House of Representatives after the election of the House of Representatives held on March 4 has begun. The meeting of the House of Representatives has begun at the multipurpose hall of the under-construction Federal Parliament Building at Singha Durbar.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Balendra Shah, former Prime Minister and coordinator of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, President of Rastriya Swatantra Party Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of Labour and Culture Party, Harka Raj Rai, top leaders of the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) and the newly elected lawmakers.TAG_OPEN_div_25 ।

President Ram Chandra Poudel on March 26 summoned the session of both houses of the Federal Parliament for today on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.TAG_OPEN_div_23 In the 275-member House of Representatives, the RSP has 182 lawmakers, the Nepali Congress 38, the CPN-UML 25, the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) seven, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) five and one independent lawmaker.

There is a possible agenda for the introduction of three ordinances in the meeting. Home Minister Sudhan Gurung will table the Voters’ List (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2082 and the Nepal Special Service (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2082 and the Voters’ List (First Amendment) Ordinance.

The senior-most member/Speaker of the Assembly, Arjun Narsingh KC, will read out the letter relating to the summoning of the convention received from the President and the letter regarding appointment to the post of Prime Minister and formation of the Council of Ministers received from the Office of the President.TAG_OPEN_div_18

The agenda in the meeting was set for the Speaker to present the proposal to carry out works as per the House of Representatives Regulations, 2079 until the House of Representatives formulates its regulations as per the Article 1 TAG_OPEN_div_16 04 of the Constitution of Nepal, according to Federal Parliament Secretariat General Secretary Padma Prasad Pandey.

The Speaker may nominate members to preside over the meeting in the absence of the Speaker. The agenda for the members to put their views on party lines at the beginning of the session has been set in the meeting. The Speaker fixed the date for the election to the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives as per Rule 7 of the House of Representatives Regulations, 2079.
