Home Minister tables three ordinances

Kathmandu. Home Minister Sudhan Gurung presented three ordinances in the House of Representatives today. In the first session of the Assembly, he has tabled the ‘Citizenship (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2082’, ‘Election to the House of Representatives (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2082’ and ‘Nepal Special Service (Third Amendment) Ordinance, 2082’.

According to Article 84 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal, the law was amended through an ordinance for the reservation of population that should have been included in the closed list of proportional representation. The erstwhile government had brought the ‘Election to the Members of the House of Representatives (First Amendment) Ordinance’ for the purpose of updating the voters’ list after the date for the election to the House of Representatives was fixed for March 4.

Home Minister Gurung shared that the ‘Nepal Special Service (Third Amendment) Ordinance’ has been issued to bring the National Investigation Department under the Home Ministry from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. The meeting also passed the condolence motion on the demise of CA members and former CA members Rishikesh Gautam, Mohammad Aftab Alam, Krishna Kumari Shrestha, Amod Prasad Upadhyay, Homnath Dahal and Constituent Assembly and National Assembly member Baldev Bohara.

The House of Representatives will next meet at 11:00 am on Sunday, April 5.
